Under 13 Girls clinch league title

Last Sunday our u13 Girls sealed a fantastic season with a 5-1 away win at Park Farm Sapphires, securing the Kent Girls & Ladies Division 4 East title in the process. Going into the season with modest expectations, having only come together as a squad a year earlier, the girls have taken the league by storm, winning 15, drawing 1, and losing just 2 of their matches. The improvement on last year’s performances has been extraordinary, and they now head into the final of the Tina Marshall Trophy on May 12th, looking to add more silverware to what has already been a spectacular season.

The girls raced into a 4-1 lead at halftime on Sunday with goals from Flora Porter, Frankie Pearton, Emma McInnes and a first of the season from Roisin Higgins, before Park Farm hit back with a breakaway goal just before the halftime whistle. As heavy rain began to fall, the second half was a more even contest, before Flora curled a shot in from the edge of the box to kickstart the celebrations!

Eagles have certainly not found goals hard to come by this season, averaging over 5 a game in the league, with forward pairing Frankie and Flora netting 59 between them so far in all competitions. That’s been backed up by some heroic goalkeeping, a calm and resolute defence and a midfield brimming with energy and skill.

“It’s been a roller-coaster of a season but these girls stick together,” said manager Jo Treharne. “Every single one of them are superstars and it’s been lovely to see them develop as individuals and as a team.”

A massive well done to the entire squad: Elsie Clark, Sophie Clarke, Georgia Crossley, Ruby Davis, Matilda Evans, Casey Gauden, Lexi Gibbs, Izzy Goodman, Roisin Higgins, Zosia Kee, Emma McInnes, Martina O’Hanley, Frankie Pearton, Flora Porter, Rosie Robinson and Alexia Stevens. A special thanks to Tashauna Jones Fagan and Chelsea May Baldock for stepping up from the u12s on occasion and doing a fantastic job.

We were lucky enough to have photographer Stuart Woods @zerothreephotography in attendance at Park Farm, to capture the action and the celebrations!
