Code of conduct

Win or lose, make it a better game

Our guidelines
for players and parents

Players are expected to take pride in representing the club and be on their best behaviour when wearing the club's kit. Parents too, are expected to model the right behaviours. This is especially important on match days where we encourage you all to get behind our players and help them feel confident. It is easy to slip from voicing encouragement into attempting to coach the players out on the pitch, but please try to resist that. You will also see a ‘Respect’ line along the side of the pitch that you are not permitted to cross and so we ask that you cheer the teams on from behind the line please.

  • Players are expected to act in a respectful and sporting manner towards their fellow players, the referee, match officials, opponents and spectators.

  • Players are expected to abide by the instructions of the team manager/coach and club officials.

  • Parents and spectators are expected to maintain the club's good reputation for sportsmanship, and to be aware that if they fail to act in a sporting manner that the club will be judged by their behaviour.

  • When watching matches, parents and spectators must remain behind the "respect line" and not view the match from behind the goals.

  • Parents and spectators must refrain from appealing to the referee for throw-ins, fouls, corners, offsides etc.

  • Players and parents must always respect the decisions of the referee and match officials.

  • Parents and spectators must not "coach" the players from the sidelines during matches.

  • The players will be given instructions from their manager/coach.

  • Players and spectators are expected to provide support and encouragement to all players on the pitch.

  • Every Canterbury Eagles player and parent MUST adhere to these guidelines.

If the code is not followed, the offending party may:

  • be asked to apologise or to meet with the club or FA Welfare Officer

  • receive a formal warning or asked to leave

  • be dropped, substituted, suspended, asked not to attend future games or have membership removed.
