Men’s team mark non-league day with spirited performance
Canterbury Eagles v Smeeth and Brabourne on Non-League Day 2026
Canterbury’s premier community football club saw its Saturday men’s team take centre stage on 28th March as the club proudly marked Non-League Day with a fantastic afternoon of grassroots football in Canterbury.
The occasion was a true reflection of what our club stands for—community, development, and opportunity for all ages. We are incredibly proud to be the only club in Canterbury offering a complete football pathway, from Under-5s all the way through to men’s and veterans football. Days like this highlight the strength of that pathway and the sense of unity across all age groups.
Before the main fixture, our Under-11 teams took to the pitch, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm setting the tone for the day. Their involvement didn’t stop there—they played a key role throughout the event as matchday ball-boys, demonstrating great responsibility and energy.
At half-time, the U11 players were back in the spotlight as they enjoyed the opportunity to take part in a penalty shootout in front of the crowd, creating a memorable experience for players, families, and supporters alike.
On the pitch, the men’s team delivered a spirited performance against the league leaders, competing strongly throughout. Unfortunately, a late goal conceded in the closing moments saw the visitors snatch victory, leaving our side narrowly beaten at the final whistle.
Despite the result, the day perfectly captured the spirit of grassroots football, bringing together players, coaches, and supporters from across the club. It was a celebration not just of the men’s team, but of the entire club and the thriving football community we are proud to be part of.
