A strong performance from the Hurricanes

The latest round of matches in the Kent Disability League on 12th March saw another highly credible performance from our pan-disability team, Canterbury Eagles Hurricanes. Disability team manager Tony Newington reports on the action.

Hurricanes V Charlton Athletic lost 0-1

Hurricanes V Faversham Town won 2-0 (Nathan 2)

Hurricanes V Mersham Won 1-0 , (Nathan)

Hurricanes V Gravesham Drew 0-0

In our first game against Charlton, we peppered the opposition goal with shots but found their keeper in excellent form. He single-handedly kept the Hurricanes from scoring, before Charlton caught us napping with a goal on the break. With Charlton three points behind us at the start of the day, it was one we were gutted to lose as it enabled them to close the gap.

In our remaining games there was some impressive football played by the Hurricanes, who showed excellent concentration throughout. Josh was our Player of the Day, putting in an impressive amount of work, both in defence and midfield. Others could learn from Josh what it means to keep going and never give up.

Our match of the day was against Faversham Town, who at the start of this round of matches were 3 points ahead of the Hurricanes. However, we pulled out all the stops, with Nathan bagging an excellent brace and Colin making some fine saves, earning us the three points.

All in all an excellent day’s work from the Hurricanes. Charlton managed to gain some ground on us, but we managed to gain on Faversham, so we await the updated league table with interest.
